Here is a sample of guidelines that may be used, it is more beneficial for students to create the rules as a class with teacher direction to give the students ownership and responsibility for their actions when on the internet (Snowman, Dobozy, Scevak, Bryer & Bartlett, 2009 & EQ, 2007).
Guidelines for safe, legal and ethical practices when using digital technologies.
1. All sites are to be password protected when used by students.
2. Personal passwords are to be kept safe, private and not shared.
3. Always use passwords and never give personal details when communicating online.

5. All search engines are monitored by teachers and only appropriate sites will be available.
