'Colour me up'
The mixed media artwork 'Colour me up' is created using recycled products, acrylic paints, photography and digital manipulation. The magenta colour represents love in my home and was suitably chosen to create a monochromatic background. This was applied to the background of torn book pages adhered to cereal box cardboard and gessoed to create texture. Finally the altered image was layered over the background slightly to the left as the subject is looking to the right for a more aesthetically pleasing look.
Recycled product has been used to accentuate the importance of respecting our environment. The eye-line is positioned on the top third line to draw the viewer to their eyes comfortably.
The artwork is a product of a more relaxed attitude about how the artist looks without adornment or makeup on the outside, however filled with the colour of love on the inside.
